I was commissioned in the Army Reserve in 1993 and was medically discharged in 1995 for a non-line of duty permanent injury (car accident). Is it wise to try sending in an official resignation letter? Thanks for the help!

Joe Marine - you're the disgrace. Most Army officers have already served in Iraq. When our commitment's up, it's up - and we have the right to leave at that point. The disgrace is our commander in chief - who dodged the draft by hanging out in the air national guard, and then never showed up for drills . . . but who gets an honorable discharge anyway. So you can take your attitude and shove it up your fourth point of contact.

Yeah, Joe Marine, in your face! Not to mention, Army tours are 12-15 months. What is it for a Marine? 7 months? I can do that in my sleep. And also, 'Your' should be "You're". At least we are educated.

I heard that once you resign your commission you can never get it back. Is this true? Everyone's trying to resign their commission. I'd like to get mine back! Is it possible? I resigned (not in lieu of court marshall and not a 2 time passover) thinking i'd never get back in, but I came back 10 yrs ago. If i gotta be in, I'd rather it be as an officer. I meet the qualifications.

I have 3 years AD and about 6 years Reserve (TPU). I got a Direct Commission in April 2007 but have not been able to attend BOLC or OBC because my sister died (my family care plan long term) and my best friend moved away (short term). Having a child previously abused by a babysitter prevents me from shoving my children off on just anyone therefore I was told by my AO that it'll be best for me to resign. He said I could also request (by board or committee) to be reinstated if my situation changes. Anyone else have a situation similiar? I haven't made a move as of yet.
