Hey everyone, it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted last because there really hasn’t been a whole lot going on here. It's very good news to say that our guys are almost bored sitting right in the middle of a war zone, and it's the truth. That is why I haven’t posted lately, nor written a column in the last month. The material just simply hasn’t been there. I am working on my August column, and I am being forced to get creative. I am going to do a column just on the men in my platoon and how we have changed in the 13 months that we’ve been gone from home thus far. I’ve just begun working on it, and I hope it will turn out to be a success.

For the most part here there isn’t much going on at all. It is extremely hot, with temperatures reaching around 125 degrees on most days. It’s the hottest part of the year, and we are trying to beat the heat by avoiding the hottest part of the day.

I think it is also safe to say that we are getting anxious because we are starting to see the signs of this long journey coming to an end.

I’ve been thinking a lot about all of the things that are waiting for me back home and the new life that I am going to have. I’ll be coming home to a beautiful bride, a new apartment, a new car, a new city, a new job (SOMEBODY HIRE ME) and an entirely new way of life. I think that this deployment has been a huge turning point in my life, not only because of those reasons, but it also has made me appreciate my own life that much more and helped me to not take the many small things that I have available to me in my regular life for granted. This deployment has been a real eye-opener in that aspect.

In summary, I’m doing good, and that’s all I’ve got to say about that.
