Bands for Freedom
Ever since the yellow Lance Armstrong “Live Strong” armbands were introduced to the world, rubber bracelets have been the latest craze. I've worn my yellow Lance Armstrong band since last summer, in fact, partly in honor of the loved ones I know dealing with cancer and also because they are yellow (the color associated with supporting the troops) and “Live Strong” is a mantra I've repeated to myself throughout Ryan's deployment.
But now, oh yes, I've found another armband I'm going to purchase -- Bands for Freedom. Funds from the purchase of these rubber bracelets (which can be bought for $1 each in packs of 10, 50, etc.) go to the Armed Forces Relief Trust, which raises money to support men and women in the Armed Forces and their families. According to the Bands for Freedom Web site, all profits will go to the AFRT.
I love what the bands stand for the most, though -- honoring the men and women in the Armed Forces who make sacrifices every day. I love to show my support for Ryan and others through ribbons, signs and other items because there's not a minute in the day that he's not on my mind.
And now I can get these neat armbands! They come in red, white or blue; desert camo; or a marbled red, white and blue effect. You also can get a multi-pack of red, white and blue bands. They say one word: FREEDOM. Which says it all.
My only problem is that I can't decide which color to get.
