Back in the USA

I flew back home Tuesday the 28th and am now on a pass in Fayetteville, NC (Ft. Bragg).  I'll be here for probably a couple of weeks yet while we outprocess and demobilize.  It's great to be back in the US again, and Michelle drove down from Ohio to see me arrive, which was really nice.  Thanks again to everyone for all your support, and to the 278th for relieving us in country so that we could return home.

Welcome back Steve.
Sitting in my comfortable chair, the time seems to have passed very quickly.
Thank you for your service to our country and fellow service people (by setting up this blog).
I am glad you made it back to your family safely. You can be very proud of what you have accomplished.
Thanks.

Steve,

Congrats! I know your family is happy to get you back safe and sound.

I'm surprised that you went back with the unit to NC rather than Ft Bliss. Let us know how the demob goes and if there are any problems clearing or with the REFRAD process. I was having dinner with Troy last night and we are both under the impression that we will be separated out from our unit in Kuwait and sent separately to Ft Bliss. Not that anything is in stone yet. We are all anxiously waiting to hear that your REFRAD goes smooth and ours follow soon after.

Steve,

It is wonderful to hear you are back in the USA again, and especially that Michelle got to see you arrive.

Steve,
So happy for you and your family...what a glorious way to begin 2005. My soldier is part of the 278th/relief and I am now in the praying-every-day mode with months and months before me but I will remain optimistic, proud and committed every step of the way.

Steve, you were so connected while away that I hardly had a chance to miss you, but all the same I'm damn glad to have you back on the continent, and double-glad that you managed to stay in one piece. -e.

Happy New Year! Welcome back - that was quick! You just left FLW in June and now your on your way home. Better deal than the 545 day plan they had for you! Well if you have any pay issues, drop me an e-mail. Did 1LT Chris make it back with you too?
Well if they make you return to FLW, make sure you let me know!

Happy New Year and welcome back.

Steve,

Could you write another post and kinda sum everything up? If you got orders for 545 days did you come back only because the unit you were assigned to came back as well. Now, you said you are being released from AD so you only served 7-8 months? If you REFRAD what's to stop them from calling you back in say 5-6 months to do it again?

My brother just recently started his tour with the 278th. I was really glad to see from your BLOG some pictures of what you guys are having to endure. Being able to talk to him more frequently than expected, email, and messenger is really helping my family cope with his deployment. I will also let everyone know of this so they can get an idea how things look there. Thank you so much! Welcome Home! God bless you and every soldier that is currently fighting for our freedom.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Just getting off the plane, you could tell from the smell of the air that you were out of that place. To all the 278 and their families, thank you very much for your service. I'm glad this site has been helpful to many of you, and if any of you would like a blog of your own, please contact me (using the Contact link up above at the top of the left menu).

Steve, let me start off by saying... "WELCOME HOME!!!!" and THANK YOU so much for your service to our country and helping others attain the freedoms that they so deserve.
My nephew, has now been attached to the 278th that has just relieved you. He actually is part of another unit that went over but they have been split to help out where needed?

Your site has been so helpful to us and allows us to breath a sigh of relief. (so to speak)
We are so thankful that we have been able to have some contact with him, more than we expected.
Once again, welcome home!!! and May GOD bless you, your family and all of men and women serving our country. Keep them safe.

Welcome home! ! ! We can't wait to see "Army Steve" in person. I know one "little person" in particular who can't wait to see her Daddy. I hope we get to see THAT reunion! We are all very proud of you and thank you for serving your country. Knowing that you were on your way home was the best Christmas gift EVER. Your blog helped us all to stay connected and informed and continues to help so many other soldiers and their families. I am sure so many people are grateful to you for establishing this means of communication. Even though you are no longer there I find myself checking the blog daily to see how our soldiers are doing. Welcome home and thank you.

If you know where Ray's Place is in Kent, let me know when you're back in town and I'll buy you a beer. Been spending time in town since my wife started at KSU.
